Romanian universities attract (a lot of) EU money

The "Babes-Bolyai" University from Cluj-Napoca is the Romanian entity that has attracted the most EU funds, reaching 200 million euro in the financial period 2007-2013.

The amount funds 141 major projects submitted to the Sectorial Operational Programme Human Resources Development (POS DRU). The raised funds are targeted to improve the quality assurance of study programs, adapting them to the market by developing curricula, teacher training and general development of the university. Also, a large part of the funds raised by POS DRU projects directly targeted the students. These funds focused on doctoral scholarships for student performance and providing professional training and development of students.

The category of funds for modernization, the largest project, worth 7 million euro, targeted the redesign of the entire sports park "Iuliu Haţieganu". The investment can be considered in my opinion a benefit for the entire local community in addition to other projects with the role of development in mind for Cluj-Napoca.
