As expected, the year 2014 has powerful implications
at European and national
level.
It is expected that the European socialists organize a congress in the coming months, most likely in the late autumn. Sergej Stanishev, the current president of PES, can no longer claim another term. Who will most likely take his place?
We have to take into consideration the internal Belgium political environment, namely the Belgian Federal Government which will have a new coalition, most likely without the socialists.
One possible scenario - Elio Di Rupo leaves the position of prime minister of Belgium and as such at the congress he could very well be elected as the new president of European Socialists Party.
